You might all know by now that I have a severe slowjuicer fetish. In a recent interview with Margriet magazine I was talking about it and mentioned that our local green grocer must think we have rabbits. Maybe even more than one or two. But no, that’s not the case. It just takes al ot of veggies to make a glass of juice. The love for the slowjuicer started when I wanted to do a detox. After the detox period I kept the slow juicing going by mixing several vegetables and/or fruit to get energised before a workout or, making a take away cocktail (without the alcohol) when on the go. My body and mind are totally agreeing with the mixes and my skin is nodding yes, yes, yes in the meantime.
While practising what I preach I’ve spoken to a lot of people who bought a slowjuicer, some a Versapers, and some from a different brand. While they started out enthusiastic, the machine ended back in the cabinet because it was too much of a hassle to clean. I’ve encouraged them to take it back out, but first to clean the machine before drinking the boost of vitamins. That actually seemed to help.
My favorite juices are the ones that help to brighten up my skin from within. Good skin is created from within and it needs a steady stream of highly absorbable nutrients to keep it supple, strong and clear. Juices are the ideal skin food for this and can also be easily adapted to suit varying skin conditions.
The perfect pick me up:
Beetroot juice is the emperor of all energizers, shown to increase stamina, boost brain power and even lower blood pressure. Combine it with the sweetness of apples, with an antioxidant shot of carrots and the rejuvenating tang of fresh, zingy ginger to really get you back on your feet in a jiffy. This juice is dark, sweet and tangy. Serve garnished with a sprig of mint and perhaps a squeeze of fresh lemon.
Skin cleanser for radiant looking skin
Juices travel through parts of the body, you didn’t even know existed. For a thorough cleanser I love to mix a cucumber, a few apples and some mint leaves because it works wonder on the skin. It’s fabulous for skin, hair and nails.
The Flawless Flush
For an internal cleanser, its best to drink this “ flush” in the morning. Mix beetroot with carrots and apples. Adapt the amounts depending on flavor. Just keep in mind that carrots are the queen of all vegetable juices. They are amazing antioxidans and help to purify kidneys and alimentary canal.
A slowjuicer shouldn’t be part of a hype, but part of your life. Freshly pressed by Versapers at you service. Enjoy!
