Puig, a Barcelona-based, global leader in the beauty and fashion industry, announced its partnership with the 37th America’s Cup Barcelona as both a Global Partner and the official naming partner of the inaugural Women’s America’s Cup, back in June 2023 with the aim of providing female sailors with a platform to showcase their skills and talent in the high-performance foiling AC40s and provide a skills pathway to the America’s Cup itself.
Excitement has been building in Barcelona with the inaugural Puig Women’s America’s Cup attracting the world’s greatest women sailors for the first time ever. The Puig Women’s America’s Cup is one of the highlights of the 37th America’s Cup.
With a long tradition of sponsorship within the world of sailing, Puig collaborated in the 37th edition of the America’s Cup as a global sponsor supporting this historic competition, promoting and reinforcing the presence and excellence of women in the sport, which I love.
The spotlight is very much on these athletes, all excited by the opportunity that the Puig Women’s America’s Cup is affording them as a pathway to the major teams and the AC75 of the America’s Cup. There are skippers from 12 competing teams – six America’s Cup squads and six invited teams from Australia, Canada, Germany, Sweden, Spain, and the Netherlands. History in the making and top-flight racing with the inaugural Puig Women’s America’s Cup and a battle to the very end of the regatta, also known as the F1 on the sea.
Barcelona is the perfect backdrop due to it’s history, nautical heritage, vibrant culture and lively atmosphere. Next to soaking up architectural wonders, exquisite cuisine, I had the pleasure to learn much more about the sports and enjoy this very unique experience watching the race from the Puig 80’s sunreef catamaran.
Congratulations to the Netherlands with their BIG win on the third and fourth race on Monday the 7th of October as one of the invited teams. The JAJO Team DutchSail is led by Sander van der Borch with skipper Odile van Aanholt.
The Puig Women America’s Cup will have a huge impact in the future for women. As a sport fanatic I can only support and celebrate this win in every aspect while looking back at a memorable trip.
