Hinoki & Cedarwood was created by Celine Roux who has been working with Jo Malone for over 15 years, and Master perfumer Anne Flipo who is known for her extended knowledge and experience. She has been working at International Flavours & Fragrances (IFF) since 2004 and has created numerous fragrances for top brands in the luxury industry. Anne Flipo is one of the few selected perfumers to hold the title of “Master Perfumer”, awarded by IFF in recognition of her outstanding work in the field.
Hinoki & Cedarwood Cologne Intense by Jo Malone contains woody notes like sandalwood and cedarwood which I usually like, but in this case it wasn’t love at first smell. Hinoki, a cypress species that grows in Japan was getting used to. You really need it to develop on the skin without judgement.
There is a soft creaminess over the green of the woodiness that settles into a comfortable, almost soothing fragrance. The added Tonka Bean and cinnamon slowly comes to the surface and gives it a twist and sophistication I was not expecting. An interesting Jo Malone fragrance that will surely make you stand out from the crowd. (50 ML | € 136)
