During my recent visit to London, I had the privilege to meet and spend time with the founder and owner of Skandinavisk: Shaun Russel, who is tremendously proud and passionate about his independent company. The home and body fragrance collections are inspired by almost 20 years of travels across the Nordic region creating scents based on aspects of Scandinavia that are considered to be precious to the inhabitants and exotic to the outside world. After seven years of building the brand and business with International reach (the home fragrance candles and diffusers are available in over 30 countries, not in the Netherlands yet…)
Shaun found it was time for the next chapter. Skandinavisk introduces the Next Generation; an updated and upgraded collection containing hand creme, body lotion, shower gel, home diffusers and candles. A total of 60 sku’s all wrapped in clean graphic design. Skandinavisk house rules for creating fragrance are stricter than the EU’s which means no suspected hormone disrupters, and all fragrances are safe.
For example: the candle wax comes from Swedish grapeseed oil which is traceable and sustainably farmed. The entire home & body collection is 100% vegan and cruelty free and Skandinavisk is certified B corporation which means a new kind of business that balances profit with purpose. It’s the highest level of independent company certification and a global movement of people using business as a force for good. Something I can only applaud.
That said, the feeling of the products on the skin is utterly divine and the candles smell really heavily, while the prices are affordable. If you’re not acquainted yet, I would recommend doing so really fast.
My favorite? You might want to start with the Skog or Rosenhave collection. Skog smells like pine needles and fire cones, birch sap, and woodland Lily of the Valley, while the Rosenhave contains the beautiful Alba rose and elderflower, geranium, and blackcurrant buds. Rosenhave is an ode to Shaun’s wife, who is a Scandinavian gardener. You will love it too. I promise. 🙂
