Tom Ford has recently released its most expensive foundation in 40 widespan shades. As I love fresh-looking complexion and a nice glow I know the Shade and Illuminate products do exactly that. But, with a price tag of 129,- euro the big question is; is it worth purchasing?
The promise:
The fade-resistant moisturizing, nourishing, and protecting formula contains a blend of advanced elastomers and light-diffusing powders to create the perfect radiant surface. Designed to create the appearance of flawless skin, this foundation also nourishes with breathable protection and is infused with hyaluronic acid to moisturize for a plump, dewy look. A trio of natural oils including balsam copaiba, andiroba, açai, and anti-inflammatory noni fruit extract nourish and calm the skin while broad-spectrum SPF 50 helps protect from the harmful effects of the sun.
My thoughts:
To kick off my thoughts on the foundation. It contains an SPF 50. That is quite high for a foundation. Even though I also use a separate SPF, is nice to know that even if you didn’t, your skin would be protected during the day. The Shade And Illuminate Soft Radiance foundation has a lightweight substance that blends in beautifully with the skin and lasts all day without any touch-ups and very comfortable to wear.
I love reaching for this because it’s so comfortable to wear. It’s medium coverage, doesn’t settle in fine lines, and looks like natural and dewy skin, as if you are not wearing any foundation at all. It subtly catches the light giving your skin that brightening effect. What I specifically like is that it doesn’t oxidize making it color true. I would recommend opting for a color in your exact skin tone, this is no concealer so make sure not go too light on this one.
If you have dehydrated skin, due to the hyaluronic acid it will definitely give your skin a boost. When you suffer from dry skin, with the occasional dry patches this foundation might not be for you as chances the illuminating spheres will only accentuate them.
Overall I think this foundation delivers. The nourishing quality is high, as skincare and color should be. As a little goes a long way it’s worth the investment if your not on a tight budget.
