If you follow my Instagram stories, you’ll see me check in at Knap Institute on a weekly basis for a deep tissue massage. I tend to have a love & hate relationship with this treatment because it can be very painful, especially around that favorite time of the month. Why do I still do it? Because it’s damn well worth it. The results are there and more visible every week.
Deep tissue massage is more than just a massage with deep pressure. The goals and techniques are different. It may help with certain conditions like cellulite (if you have any) but also to achieve and maintain a more toned down body. Deep tissue massages stimulate the blood circulation, reducing any blockage. It also strengthens the skin.
During a deep tissue massage, a little discomfort is quite normal and will be felt if there are inconsistencies within the tissues. Discomfort is described as a “good hurt”, (if any) the kind that feels good at the same time. On the other hand, pain can be described as being uncomfortable and not tolerated well by the body. Remember to communicate with your massage therapist to get the most out of the massage.
Cupping
By adding the cupping treatment (an ancient alternative therapy) that is also described as vacuum cups that are silicone based that suck deeper set toxins to the surface making it easier to address. Next to that the cupping helps to loosen fat and breaking apart the adhesions.
If you have cellulite, this is a proven way that helps to get rid of it fast. You’ll have a better structure and condition of the skin. Your legs will feel les tired. I concur, as I run three times a week. If you work out (which I recommend) you see that it stimulates and increases weight loss. Last but not least; it visibly helps to get that toned down body J
A deep tissue massage releases free radicals that have built up inside muscular knots so you may feel a bit off after a session. Drinking lots of water after the massage is recommended. One reason is that water will help the kidneys and other organs process the various substances which move through the body on regular basis and after a massage treatment, a lot of toxins have been released, so you need to flush them out.
If you want to do this treatment well, invest in a 6, 9, 15 x treatment to achieve the best results. The keep it once a month. A treatment costs € 65,- and is worth every penny.
Knap Institute is declared the most fast growing salon of 2017. Congratulations!
