Dame Patricia Ann McGrath DBE is a British make-up master and the queen of artistry. She has been called the most influential make-up artist in the world by Vogue magazine and in 2019 she was included in Time’s 100 most influential people list. Pat is also the first make-up artist to be made a British dame. I’ve had the privilege to meet Pat during an A-list VIP party in London to celebrate the launch of the Pat McGrath Labs make-up corner shop at Selfridges department store in 2019.
As you can imagine I am as obsessed with Pat’s products as I am fond of Pat. She is down to earth and one of the sweetest souled people I’ve had the privilege to get to know. Fun fact; we’re both British-born Jamaican which made the encounter even more interesting as it felt like an instant connection. Pat was born in Northampton, England to a Jamaican single mother who adored make-up and implanted a love of cosmetics into her daughter.
Neither her mother nor Pat could imagine that her childhood obsession would turn into her life’s work. Since her career took off in the 1990s, Pat has worked with top models like Naomi Campbell and Gigi Hadid and photographers like Steven Meisel, on countless photoshoots.
Needless to say that the make-up range is absolutely amazing, high quality and, there is something there for everyone. Even better news for all the make-up lovers and enthusiasts in the Netherlands as the Pat McGrath make-up range is now available at Douglas. Hooray!
My favorites? I have a crush for the Skin fetish sublime perfection foundation. A medium-coverage blend that comes in 36 colors, glides on smoothly and leaves a dewy and radiant finish. I love the consistency of the creamy concealer that helps to cover dark circles and contains added benefits. And don’t get me started on the eyeshadow pallets and lipsticks… They are a dream. If you haven’t tried the products before, then it’s time to get acquainted fast.
“This is the golden age of makeup. PAT McGRATH LABS is my Golden Revolution. The entire planet is just as cosmetics obsessed as I’ve always been. Makeup is a movement. Makeup is mesmerizing. Makeup is major. Mantra-esque, three words have repeated over and over in my mind ever since I was young. Obsession. Inspiration. Addiction. Those words became my guiding principles, my manifesto as I brought this brand to life. I wanted to capture, in a quartet of exquisite palettes, 50 legendary lipsticks, a divine dozen eyeliners, and five fetish-worthy lip pencils, The Power of Transformation, The Power of Beauty; The Power of Makeup.” – Pat McGrath, CEO & Founder of PAT McGRATH
