From the mastery of Azzedine Alaïa to the theatrical power of Thierry Mugler, and the pure visual poetry of Louvre Couture, these exhibitions reminded me why I fell in love with the art of transformation. As a make-up artist, I see faces the way designers see fabric. Full of potential, structure, light, and shadow. Walking through these curated worlds, I couldn’t help but notice how every silhouette told a story… much like every face I have the privilege to touch.
Olivier Saillard’s curation of Azzadine Alaïa, Thierry Mugler (1980–1990) was stunning. Two decades of artistic affinities curated by Olivier Saillard. The life and work of Azzedine Alaïa, as well as the location’s history and architecture. The scenography, the lighting is close to perfection. The exhibition runs until the 31st of August 2025. Don’t walk, run!
And then… Louvre Couture. 65 silhouettes and 30 accessories, breathing life into centuries of aesthetic influence.
As they say, “The Louvre is the book from which we learn to read.” And for those of us in beauty, it’s also the palette from which we continue to create. Seeing fashion and art in dialogue, through garments, texture and light was a reminder that make-up isn’t just enhancement. It’s expression. It’s emotion. It’s wearable art. It’s such a beautiful exhibition. I’ll be forever inspired.
The Louvre Couture exhibition runs until July 21, 2025
